Focused on sustainability, justice and global impacts
As a native of Rio de Janeiro, I grew up with a sense of compassion and a drive towards social justice. I experienced first-hand what it is to live in an area of great inequality. You see oppression, poverty and violence everywhere. There's no way not to see it. The neighborhoods are parallel universes. Likewise, I have been an ardent environmentalist since witnessing a major sewage spill on a local Rio beach as a child. Years later, I witnessed the burning of the Amazon as I flew over the interior of Brazil.
These experiences had a deep impact on me and I became determined to use my life to make a difference and make the world better for my children. To that end, I have dedicated my practice to “sustainable” investing, focusing on investments that are sensitive to environmental, social, and/or governance (ESG) issues.
I have been fortunate enough to travel and live in the Americas and Europe, visiting some 50 countries. I am fluent in Portuguese, Spanish, French, Russian, and German, which reflects my strong global outlook and deep interest in world cultures.
I live in Arlington, VA with my wife Julia and children Alex and Angie.
