PERSONAL TOUCH
I strive to provide the highest levels of personalized service. Here's what you can expect when you work with me.

As a financial advisor, I get to know my clients really well. I come to understand their motivations and fears and I strive to be someone they can confide in.

I approach the client relationship from a life planning standpoint, understanding that, ultimately, you are investing to fund your personal aspirations and support what is meaningful to you, be it family, community, security, to preserve your independence, etc.

OBJECTIVITY
I am dedicated to helping you manage the emotional tendencies that can sabotage your investment journey. I can help you avoid costly mistakes, whether tax-related, investment-related or loan-related.

Being a step removed – an outsider overseeing your funds – I can be more objective about making strategy and investment decisions.

LONG-TERM COMMITMENT
A long-term advising relationship helps to accomplish people's life goals and aspirations. Through Silvergreen, I enhance this relationship with an open and fluid line of communications with my esteemed clients. I am always ready to listen and assist.

EXPERTISE IN ESG INVESTING
You're helping to fund progress with your investments while at the same time mitigating risk and profiting from emerging opportunities.

I have been quoted as an expert source in the national media speaking on ESG factor analysis and climate change investing. I am especially experienced in securities research and due diligence.

TRANSPARENCY
My goal is to keep you informed about all processes, operations, fees and investment approaches. See the sections below and other detailed explanations throughout this site.

Benefits of an ESG Approach
Benefits of an ESG Approach

Financial benefits – The ESG focus – often overlooked in mainstream investment practices – improves the quality of risk management as well as the potential for long-term returns. For example, I am able to uncover opportunities to navigate physical, social and transition risks. Furthermore, I can provide access for regular people to investment vehicles that were formerly only available to very wealthy or large institutions.

Positive impact – At Silvergreen, I work with mutual funds that have meaningful engagement with their portfolio companies to achieve positive societal impact, whether through robust engagement reports – protecting workers’ rights, DEI, sensitive environments.

It’s the concept of active [shareholder] ownership – you care about what you own. This is the opposite of general index investing which is not capable of meaningful engagement because it includes all companies, good or bad.

Here is a helpful CNBC article that explains the concept of shareholder advocacy.

Our Process
Our Process

Getting started
Investment services begin when we complete your comprehensive financial plan. Based on your specific needs, I will present an investment proposal engagement based on your unique circumstances (your goals, constraints, values, assets, liabilities, income, risk tolerances, values, legacy desires, etc.) Here is a mock example  that  shows what an in-depth proposal may look like.

How I operate
Because I value transparency, I want to explain my business model. As an individual, I am an independent contractor, working under the umbrella of Cambridge Investment Research Advisors, Inc. (CIRA), a Registered Investment Advisor. They partner with me to offer access to:

  • the custodial company that holds your funds
  • back office software
  • compliance services
  • monthly collection of fees from client accounts

My title is investment advisor representative (IAR), which means I must adhere to the  fiduciary  standard of the Investment Act of 1940. Silvergreen is the name of my firm (my DBA).

I will invest your funds on a “discretionary” basis, meaning, we agree on the strategy and I will manage the funds according to my discretion. This mainly includes activities such as rebalancing and security selection.

Client account set-up process:

  1. CIRA  – will send you the paperwork and relevant information to open an advisory account.
  2. Client  – completes the paperwork.
  3. CIRA –  approves the paperwork and opens an account with National Financial (a subsidiary of Fidelity, which takes custody of your funds).
  4. Client –   funds the account by transferring from another investment firm, electronic funds transfer, or conventional paper check.
  5. CIRA  – will deduct the fees from your accounts monthly (see fee schedule below). Note – when you check your balances, they are shown NET of fees.
